We Seek Established, High-Integrity Businesses Built on Specialized Knowledge

Safe Harbor HoldCo is seeking to acquire and operate one established business where trust, service quality, process discipline, and operational continuity are central to long-term success.

We are especially interested in companies that have earned durable customer relationships through reliability, technical know-how, professional standards, specialized information, or consistent execution. Our focus is long-term stewardship — not financial engineering, rapid resale, or disrupting what already works.

Location

We are focused on businesses in the Mid-Atlantic, with a preference for companies located in or near:

  • Washington, DC Metro

  • Maryland

  • Virginia

  • Delaware

  • Pennsylvania

  • Select surrounding Mid-Atlantic markets

We prefer businesses close enough to allow for direct ownership involvement, in-person relationship building, and a long-term presence with employees, customers, and local partners.

Industry Focus

We are particularly interested in established service businesses where quality, consistency, discretion, compliance, or specialized expertise are central to the company’s reputation.

Representative areas of interest include:

  • Calibration, testing, inspection, and certification businesses

  • Environmental, analytical, forensic, or specialty laboratories

  • Medical compliance, credentialing, documentation, or inspection services

  • Market research, benchmarking, data, or information-driven service firms

  • Specialty professional services with recurring or repeat customer relationships

  • Select personal-service businesses with strong operating standards and a premium customer experience

  • Other regulated, technical, or process-driven service businesses

We are drawn to businesses where the value is built through trusted relationships, disciplined execution, and accumulated know-how.

Financial Characteristics

We look for companies with:

  • $ 300,000 – $ 700,000 in Seller’s Discretionary Earnings (SDE)

  • Consistent profitability

  • Clean and understandable financial reporting

  • Stable cash flow

  • A recurring or repeat customer base

  • A meaningful history of private-sector revenue preferred

  • A business size appropriate for an owner-operator transition

We are SBA-ready and prepared to engage promptly in structured, professional discussions. We prefer not to publish target transaction size publicly, but we are happy to discuss fit confidentially with owners, brokers, and advisors.

Transaction Structure

We are open to thoughtful, well-structured transactions that may include:

  • SBA financing

  • Seller participation

  • Transitional support from the current owner

  • Minority equity rollover, where appropriate

  • Earnout or performance-based components when they create fair alignment

Our goal is alignment and continuity, not disruption. We want the seller, employees, customers, and new ownership to have a clear path through transition.

What We Value

We are most interested in businesses with:

  • Established operating history

  • Strong reputation within its market

  • Experienced employees or managers who understand the business

  • Long-term customer relationships

  • Documented processes, quality systems, or repeatable operating practices

  • Accreditation, licensure, or professional standards where applicable

  • A culture of reliability, service, and accountability

  • Opportunity for thoughtful modernization without undermining what made the business successful

Accreditations such as ISO, CLIA, or similar credentials are attractive, where relevant.
